In Ashford, Kent, LBS Group have supplied and installed an insulated steel roller shutter, constructed with 95-millimetre single piece laths with PU insulation bonded to the laths. Complete with an extruded aluminium bottom bar and rubber weather seal, the curtain provides an impressive U-value for thermal insulation, and sound reduction of 21dB.
“… perfect for openings where large goods and vehicles require access yet allowing access for people…”
Additionally, the shutter includes three-sided galvanised steel casing with required brush seal. The curtain featured a plastisol finish to a standard colour, with the exposed metal work to be powder coated. The function of the shutter was operated via low-level key-switch and pushbuttons which was motorised via a 240-volt electrically operated single-phase motor and a mandatory safety brake to match. To complete the clients request, the shutter allowed for further access via a wicket door with an interior panic bar and exterior access device.
This shutter is perfect for openings where large goods require access yet allowing for people to enter via the wicket door, all whilst ensuring insulation to the building. With rising energy prices and a global effort to reduce emissions and our carbon footprint, insulated shutters should be a consideration for all new and existing building projects.
